선생님들이 이해할 거옐 것 같아요

Translation: [See blog’s final line.]

No riding makes ShenaniTims a dull cyclist.

So this is week five of my “no riding” plan to allow my knees to heal after my failed attempt to go from Busan to Seoul via bike. Knee x-rays showed no problems, just too much too soon without nearly enough rests. (Also, don’t carry your unusually heavy bike up a steep flight of stairs prior to starting.)

The problem is I still want to keep going. Too much unfinished business. There’s a coffee shop owner who went out of her way to help me find the Deagu bus station after I spent all day dragging my bike around the (rather large) city looking for it. I feel bad because she took the time to come out of her store and show me the route on her phone, and I failed to buy a drink from her. (I really could’ve used it at that point.) Granted, had I bought that drink, I would’ve missed the last bus out of Deagu that night (I had minutes to spare); so ultimately it all worked out. But the regret remains.

Also, Deagu has “E-World” E-Mart’s answer to Lotte World! After a cursory glance at my Bicycle Passport (above) and some time spent cross-checking on KaKao Maps, I’ve figured that even in my battle damaged state, I should be able to walk from Deagu to Gumi in a day.

I consider Gumi is a safe haven as I’ve spent the night there before, after I visited Korea’s bicycle museum. If the plan goes perfectly, I’ll be able to sleep in Gumi, take an early morning bus back to Deagu, hit E-World, and be back in Jeonju in time for work on Monday. I’ll only end up missing Sunday class, but E-World!

I’m sure 선생님 will understand.
